Dental Cleanings
Clean teeth are happy teeth!
Initial Exam
There are a few steps to a good dental cleaning. Before the dental cleaning, our dental hygienist will take a few minutes to look over your health history, teeth, gums, and mouth to check for signs of inflammation, decay, or other dental problems. If your hygenist finds an urgent problem, they will alert Dr. Varner to examine further before proceeding.
Tarter Removal
Once the oral exam is complete, your hygenist will comfortably remove any tartar and plaque buildup around the gumline and between your teeth.
Cleaning and Polishing
Next, your hygenist will begin the polishing stage. They will polish your teeth using a polishing rubber cup filled with your choice of flavored toothpaste known as prophylaxis paste which has a grainy consistency for removing stains and plaque.
Flossing
Once your teeth have been cleaned, the hygienist will begin flossing between your teeth to remove residual paste or plaque.
Flouride Treatment
Finally, the last step is fluoride treatment which helps provide an assisted layer of protection to reduce your risk of cavities. The hygienist will use a small brush to apply the fluoride over your teeth.
Final Checkup
Once your cleaning is complete, Dr. Varner will conduct a detailed examination and review your dental plan with you if additional procedures are needed.
