Fillings

Repairing your teeth.

Why do some teeth need fillings?

Damage to a tooth can be caused by decay, cracks, wear, or fractures. If this damage is small enough, the tooth can be “restored” back to health by removing the damage and “filling” it back in with tooth colored materials. A filling restores your tooth back to its shape and function to allow for normal use again.

Filling Procedure

The filling procedure usually starts with Dr. Varner comfortably giving you a local anesthetic to numb the tooth. Next, Dr. Varner will gently remove any old filling, decay, cracks, or wear that has damaged the tooth. Once the tooth is ready, Dr. Varner will place and bond a tooth colored material, sculpted to the shape of the tooth; then harden it using a special light for a few seconds. Once hardened, the filling is smoothed, polished, and adjusted back to your normal bite. It’s as easy as that!
